Philips have now stopped making replacement shaving heads and their 'new improved' 7000 has different heads anyway the shave will be different. If that’s how you use a trimmer in the majority of the time, you probably won’t like the trimmer attachment shipped with the Series 5 5018s. In my opinion (and experience) a trimmer attachment like the one that comes with the new Series 5 is definitely better than any integrated trimmers for cutting/pre-cutting an entire beard. I used the 5018s both wet and dry, daily, every other day and I also skipped shaving on weekends to see how it copes with a longer beard. The blades and foils can’t be separated (like in the case of Panasonic shavers), so some stubborn hairs and debris may get stuck in hard-to-reach spots.As a side note, I find the pre-shave lotions from Speick and Tabac to work much better than Lectric Shave. This electric shaver comes with a three-blade flexible foil head for shaving plus a beard trimmer attachment.
As long as you don’t have particularly difficult facial hair (very coarse, dense or wiry) and you don’t need the closest shave, it should be good enough. I find it too large and unpractical and I would very much rather have a pop-up trimmer always at hand. You can therefore use a Braun Series 5 shaver to shave your facial hair and deal with neck hair and sideburns precisely.
