About this deal

We flash forward 5 years, Lili has amnesia and shows up in Ben's town 500 miles away and we slowly learn why they never met up. The only clue to her past is the silver bee necklace she wears – the very same one Ben bought for Lili that magical summer’s day. I was kinda worried that the book was 400 pages long and it would be one of the books that could have been shorter. Definitely not a book for those wanting cutesy romance only and yes I read it but will i reread it even if it’s good?

It is my humble – and I know I will be demolished for this – opinion, that Never Forget You is not a romance. The only clue is the bee pendant she’s wearing around her neck, the very same one Ben bought Lili on that hot summers day. This is not just a failed romance story and I would urge readers to take a deep breath before plunging in to Lucas’s novel. Though this story is ultimately one that has hope and second chances at its core, it is well worth reading the author’s content warning at the onset as it deals with very significant issues. And I’ve also read stories that were heartbreaking in a way that you can’t fathom how things can possibly work out for the character(s).After spending two glorious days and one night together, they plan to meet in the same place in one year. And so they agree to meet in the same garden, in a years time and hopefully pick up from where they left off. As prior noted very serious issues, including emotional and substance abuse, are covered in this story.

The Justin scenes were so powerful and even hard to read at times it makes me sick that people actually go through these things. I wasn’t sure about this book since I thought the story had been done too many times, but the amnesia side of things sparked my interest, and it paid off, too. It is hard to say too much without giving anything away but reading about Lili’s past felt like watching a wreckage in slow motion, you know what’s likely to come and yet you’re helpless to stop it. During her career, she's won numerous awards, including a Romantic Novel Award in 2018, and chalked up a no. This book shows that even in the darkest of times you can always find happiness when you don’t expect it.

This contemporary romance is nothing like one I’ve read before, it’s got dark twisty piece with a little mystery but with really lovely bright happy moments and in the end I was completely satisfied with how everything needed up. i really liked lili and ben as characters; they were strong and i enjoyed reading their development and their growth as individuals. It’s still there now, smoking slightly and occasionally emitting a creaking sigh, like a train that has just pulled into the depot. I thought at first that I wasn’t going to like this book, but before long, I was gripped and couldn’t put it down.

Lili has a tough journey after initially meeting Ben, paved with turmoil and trauma, watching her arc was so satisfying – pls read the triggers, as Lili’s experiences are not for the faint hearted. The mystery surrounding Alice, the runaway with amnesia, and the struggles she encounters are interesting and emotional, she really helps Ben with his own journey and the issues he has encountered.I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and HarperCollins and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased. This story was unputdownable, and absolutely wrecked me… an incredibly moving and often poignant story with truly authentic characters and a perfect ending. Fate decides to play a funny hand when Ben walks into the same restaurant and finds the one that got away.

I'm not always the biggest fan of insecure women, but she is so likable and tries to be brave, so it made her endearing. I think Lucas did a wonderful job explaining how abuse can take on more than one form and how one can be blind to see it. This isn’t just a normal love story, it is also Lili’s story of trying to get her memory back, finding out who she was and who she is now.Ben, meanwhile, is dealing with his own issues and yet is so kind and caring, and so wonderful in how he tries to help Alice.
